A few years ago, D ran a story called "Where Has All the Chili Gone?" The sad fact was, this savory concoction of meat, grease, and fire had disappeared from Dallas menus. An especially sad fact considering longtime Dallas Morning News columnist, author, and Godfather of Chili, Frank X. Tolbert, before his death in 1984, probably did more to raise the cultural awareness of true Texas chili than anyone else in history. Enter his daughter, Kathleen Tolbert Ryan.
